Top 5 Rides and Attractions at Animal Kingdom

Disney World's Animal Kingdom is often seen as a half day park... however we would disagree! There's so much to do and explore in Animal Kingdom with a range of different attractions... from rides to theatre shows, and even the chance to pet some animals! So, here are our 5 top rides & attractions you must do if you visit Disney Worlds Animal Kingdom.

Avatar: Flight of Passage

This has got to be by far my favourite rides in Animal Kingdom... and even perhaps the whole of Disney World!

The whole ride experience, from queue to ride, is a series of story elements that help to immerse you into the world of Pandora. Towards the end of the queue you enter a lab, which then leads on towards the Avatar process... where you are linked up with a compatible Avatar.

Once you are matched, your sent off on your way by Dr. Grace Augustine to join the Na'vi and explore Pandora on your very own banshee. This epic flight is filled with stunning scenes, beautiful music & sounds, and incredible scents (which we all wish we could bottle!).

*** We do recommend that you wear shorts or trousers for this ride. It can be a little tricky when getting onto the motorcycle with a skirt or dress on ***

Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest

Far easier than an actual trek up Mount Everest, this fun, fast ride takes you high up the mountain where you can enjoy stunning views of Animal Kingdom and the world below... only to be sent plummeting back down the mountain thanks to the vicious yeti who has destroyed your tracks all in an effort to get you.

This ride is a must for any thrill seekers who love fast rides and big drops! And if you fancy skipping past the long queues, there's a single rider option!

Kilimanjaro Safari

You cannot go to ANIMAL Kingdom and not go on this epic safari! Animal Kingdoms Kilimanjaro Safari gives you the chance to see a whole range of animals up close... some may even come up to your vehicle!

On this safari you get the chance to encounter a range of animals, including some endangered species that are specially cared for by the sanctuary in an effort to save critically endangered animals.

For the most active hours, we suggest you aim to do this ride earlier in the morning or towards the evening! This is when the animals are more active... and when the queues get shorter! So win win!

Disney World Animal Kingdom: Dinosaur

Oh no! We're not gonna make it, we're not gonna make it... oh wait! We did make it to the top 5 list!

Take a trip into the world of Dinosaur (one of the great movies from 2000!) which might go a tad wrong... but no less fun! With thrills and adventure around every corner, this dark ride is a great way to wake you up and the twist and turns will leave you laughing in shock.

Festival of the Lion King

This has to be a must if you visit Animal Kingdom... especially if you love The Lion King! Festival of the Lion King is an incredible theatre show bringing the Lion King to life with incredible performances including acrobats, fire-eaters, and outstanding vocals!

This sit down show also gives you a chance to rest and relax... or, if you prefer, the chance to sing along with some classic songs from The Lion King and do some animal noises and actions (you'll understand after you've gone to the show XD).

BONUS- Feathered Friends in Flight!

I've always walked past this show and not thought much of it, so I never watched it... until last year and wow! It was so incredible to watch, with these magnificent birds flying above you :o If you have the chance, I would highly recommend watching this... and check out Animal Encounters: Winged Encounters – The Kingdom Takes Flight at the Tree of Life to see some of these birds free-flying! It truly is spectacular to see.
